For one night only

If you fancy a night out with a difference – check out a new competition which allows visitors to spend a night in some of the most famous attractions in the UK – including the Eden Project, London Dungeon and the hallowed pitch of Manchester United’s Old Trafford Football Ground…

Laterooms.com polled 1,500 consumers to discover the locations people would most like to spend a night in if they were able to have a fantasy wishlist.

Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street scored highly, but sadly the organizers were unable to convince the famous owners to offer a bed for the night.

They did manage to ‘Jim’ll fix it’ for some of the other wishlist locations though, including the Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings and Cornwall’s Eden project. Edinburgh Castle, Harrods in London, Balmoral and Stonehenge also made the top ten.

One night packages have been set up for the lucky winners and the London Dungeon package includes a night in Jack the Ripper’s chamber, a private ride on Extremis: Drop ride to doom and a night-time ‘scare attack.’ Whatever takes your fancy.

Sleep with the fishes

Now, this one sounds much more up my street. Blue Reef Aquarium in Hastings will let you bed down for the night with giant crabs and tropical sharks as neighbours.

The Aquarium has over 40 naturally recreated tanks to see the fish in their habitat, with an underwater walk-through tunnel. They are also throwing in a private stingray feed so watch those fingers…

Theatre of dreams

At Old Trafford the room has been set up in a player’s VIP box and guests will get a private stadium tour, plus dinner overlooking the pitch and a copy of Football Manager 2009.

If you opt for a heavenly night in Eden – the Eden Project in Cornwall is offering dinner in the Mediterranean Biome and a private midnight walk through the Rainforest Biome.

Jessica Reading, of LateRooms.com, said, “The UK already offers a wealth of hidden treasures when it comes to unusual hotels, B&Bs or guest houses, but we wanted to go the extra mile and give our customers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to stay the night in their favourite out-of-bounds destinations.”
